My professional background is in home health & hospice work. I grew up local; a rural, 4-H, farmer’s daughter. I also have experience as a community activist and volunteer.
I do not come from a political family nor do I want to be a politician. I want to be your representative. A sense of duty has lead me to stand up for my community and what I believe in. Civil Service needs people willing to work together to improve our state. I want to be part of creating those solutions.

From the Ames Tribune: District 48 is a newly formed district with no incumbent. Mostly in Boone, Hamilton and Webster counties, it includes the northwest corner of Story County and the city of Gilbert.
Former state Sen. Robert Bacon, a Republican, and Democrat Becky Perkovich are vying for the seat. Perkovich is enthusiastic but untested, and Bacon declined to meet with the Tribune editorial board. The Tribune does not offer an endorsement in the District 48 race.

Becky Perkovich is running for the newly drawn Iowa House District 48, which includes Otho, Coalville, Lehigh, Burnside, Dayton, parts of Boone County, and all of Hamilton County. You may not have heard much about her because Fort Dodge is not in her district; most of the media coverage is coming out of Webster City. That is why I am writing this -- you should know about Becky Perkovich.

Jim at KWBG AM 1590 says my interview will play today 840-845 this morning and replay this afternoon between 4-5pm. This was probably one of the easiest political interviews I have done, it was like talking to a friend. I've known Jim since Boone Co 4-H, circa 1989-1999. Kuddos to Jim for being so warm and professional!

Q What do you bring to the table that your opponent doesn’t?
A different point of view. I don’t know my opponent very well … I just know that we have different ages and different genders and different occupations. And so I would say I have a different perspective. And I think, maybe, a little more fresh or upbeat attitude. I really do think that I can make a difference.

I realize that state and federal politics are VERY different! I have a personal philosophy that is based on my mom's farming principles... You get what you give! You should take care of the land, think long term and use stewardship because we are responsible TO one another. You should be kind and do good, even when no one is watching. In IOWA having a solid foundation to make informed decisions is still what we expect from our leaders. And we look out for each other.

Since 1993, DAWN has provided campaign training, mentoring, and support for hundreds of Iowa Democratic women. DAWN's List is the only Iowa group dedicated solely to the support, recruitment, mentoring, and election of progressive women.
1. Raise awareness, across the state, of the importance of gender equity in public offices.
2. Establish a strong, state-wide grassroots network, supporting the election of Democratic pro-choice women to public office.
